3 Saxons teams in the Harvester overnight relay
17 Saxons took part in the event at Tilgate, nr Crawley, many sampling the Harvester for the first time.
The Tilgate venue worked well for this 40th Harvester Relay. The early legs are run in the dark, and as anticipated the forest section was more difficult, but the golf course and Park itself were much more difficult! Lack of paths on the golf course, and a multiplicity in the park together with indistinct semi-open areas provided a nice challenge.
Southdowns had set up radio controls at intermediate points on each leg, so tracking a runner's progress was straightforward, and in the benign weather there was the opportunity for banter in the changeover pen. Our Ladies team (Sam, Alison, Cate, Lisa & Sarah) included 3 runners new to the Harvester, nevertheless they completed the course in a very respectable time. Full results and interesting comments by Planner & Mapper Neil Crickmore are on the SO website.
