Lagganlia Training Camp Success!

Congratulations to Austin Howe for securing a place

Mon 21 Jun 2021

Each year the Junior Regional Orienteering Squads selectors choose up to 24 junior orienteers from across the four nations to take part in a week long residential orienteering training camp.

This is normally based at Lagganlia in Scotland. Places are hotly sought after, with tough selection criteria based on recent race performance.

As a result of some good race perfomances in the UK and France since the summer, Austin has been lucky enough to be selected, and is the only athlete from the South East region attending. Lagganlia training camp is open to U14 and U15 age categories; this year just 20 atheletes were selected.

Due to current restrictions the session will not take place in Lagganlia this year, but looks most likely to take place in the Lake District instead. Traditionally, Lagganlia would run for the week before the Scottish Six Day, but will run in October this year, so Austin is in for plenty of rain and cold weather!
