Kent Night Cup
Local level event
Explanation of event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

Report
The venue for KNC 11 was Capstone Country Park where the assembled throng was greeted with clear skies, plummeting temperatures, a lot of mud and some reasonable slopes. Given that the 114 hectare park is home to a 'ski centre' the latter should not have been a total surprise. The ski-slope itself is firmly out-of-bounds which is a shame because the rest of the park is a little short of mapped features. This meant that one or two of the control placements saw competitors scratching their heads, but did nothing to stop the top 3 of Nick Barrable, Brendon Howe and Mark Ford from completing the course (including 2 dumbbells) in excellent times. Thanks to a superb control collecting effort everyone was off-site and the car park locked up by 9.00pm - post-match analysis was conducted at Nando's in nearby Hempstead Valley which was a new experience for many, but which did not disappoint.

From here follow the road uphill to the car park at the top. Nearest Post code ME7 3JH.
Please do not park in the Ski centre car park adjacent to the junction.
**** Car Parking - during the daytime there is now a small parking charge at the venue. However we are fairly sure that this does not apply out-of-hours during our event.
Public Transport Options
Not good.
Last stretch from nearest bus stop / floodlight streets, involves a dicey walk along a busy narrow lane, so not recommended. Contact the Organiser if you require a lift.
