Event Report

Planner Graham comments: I hope everybody enjoyed themselves, and the interest from the Scouts was appreciated. I understand this is one of the activities they’re doing towards a badge, and I hope they learned a lot last night.  Thanks to Brendon for arranging their visit and briefing them on the night, and thanks as ever to the control collectors, and to Mark for helping set out the course during the afternoon.

We are grateful to the National Trust - Knole Estate for allowing us to use the Park.

Directions / Parking

Parking is on public roads around the junction of St Julian Road and Fawke Wood Road, on the SE side of Knole Park.  Please do not park in front of the gates into Knole Park or where there are yellow lines around the road junction.

If the roadside parking becomes too crowded please head East along Fawke Wood Rd to the T junction (650m), then turn right (South). There is a car park on the left after 100m.

Nearest postcode TN15 0SR is just inside the Park and cannot be approached through the Park from Sevenoaks town centre! Some SatNavs might try to take you this way. TN15 0SP is a nearby alternative.

Course Information

60 minute score suitable for all abilities. 20 controls numbered in series 90 – 99 and 100 – 109.  Choose either series to start with, visit as many controls as you can in that series in any order, then switch to the other series.  No changeover control.  Once you’ve switched series, no changing back.

10 points per control, 10 points penalty per minute/part minute beyond 60 minutes. Controls will be collected 70 minutes after the last start (course closing time).

1:10,000 scale map with 5m contours. Maps will be printed on A4 waterproof paper.

Controls will be SIAC enabled. Separate/loose control descriptions will not be provided.

After your run please Download as normal, considering social distancing. Timing printouts will be provided and the results will be available on the website.

If you are able to help collect controls in afterwards, please do volunteer.

Explanation of Score courses

You don't have to visit all the controls! There is usually a time limit, instead of a set course. Points are scored for visiting controls, and deducted for finishing over the time limit. You decide which controls to visit, and in which sequence. Sometimes controls have different points values. You will need to carry a watch or phone, so you know how long you have been out.
