Kent Night Cup

Local level event

Explanation of event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

KNC 9 Control Breakdown

Series Scores after KNC 9

Report

Those who bothered to trot up to Control number 30, grabbed handy bonus fodder (aka points), and discovered that the road was called Saxon Mews! Too many people were late back and incurred hefty penalties (when will they learn?), although David Cave-Ayland literally scraped through to the Finish right on time. Karen Ransley and Heather Brown were the most efficient in terms of points scored vs distance travelled, or maybe they were just smarter than those who charged all over the west side of Maidstone?

Much fun was had by all, including our three newcomers. Thanks to Alan Hickling for setting the course and calculating the scores from the various data sources - see the Control Breakdown pdf. View participants routes etc via MapRun Results/Tracks.

Next Thursday we start the Orienteering Christmas Festival (KNC & KOL) at Perry Wood. We looking forward to seeing you at one or both of the two events.
