Explanation of event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

Overview
Brush up your Orienteering Skills at Oldbury Hill. We have been invited to join the South East Junior Squad's training session at Oldbury. There will be the usual range of drills to practise as well as a host of top quality coaching. This is open to both adult and junior Saxons.

Directions / Parking
Parking in NT Car Park on Styants Bottom Road. If full, use the service road adjacent to The Amherst Inn (and be careful crossing the road)

Course Information
Following a warm up, participants will be coached through a series of orienteering drills. These will either be undertaken alone or in a pair (for the adults), in conjunction with parts of the SEJS squad, or with shadowing from adult helpers (younger juniors).
Bring a picnic lunch, water, your watch, a compass and some sun cream. Full leg cover advised.
A fun race-orientated exercise will follow lunch. Finish about 15:30.
It is possible to break off at lunch of those short of time or energy.

Please take care crossing the road. Watch out for other users of the woods, dog walkers, horses, cyclists.
There are deer in the woods. Please check yourself for ticks on departure. There may be some Low level brambles - full leg cover please.
