Local level event
Explanation of event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

Directions / Parking
Parking:
Parking will be on both sides of the layby next to the Amherst Inn (currently closed) off the A25. Post code TN15 0HB (W3W:https://w3w.co/detail.limes.be...). A small number of spaces are available close to the start on Church road next to St Lawrence's Church TN15 0LL These are for participants with children or those not able to walk as far.
Public Transport Options
Nearest railway station:
Kemsing on the London Victoria to Maidstone East line is approx. 3 km walk from the car park. Trains run hourly on a Saturday.
Borough Green & Wrotham on the same line is 4.3 km from the event but is served by two trains an hour.
Pre-event Details
Map / Terrain
Delightful ancient woodland consisting of oak, birch, rowan & beech. Good runnability as bracken has died back. Some heather and bilberry areas.
Courses close at 2pm.
Course Information
Five courses available:
Yellow - Controls (checkpoints) are very easy to find, mostly on main paths, ideal for younger children and complete beginners. Approx. distance 1.5 to 2.5 km.
Orange - Moderate, controls are on or near paths with more route choice. Good for progressing juniors and beginner adults who are reasonably confident reading a map. Approx. distance 2.5 to 3.5 km.
Green - As technically hard as we can make it, for experienced orienteers requiring a shorter run than the blue course. Approx. distance 4 to 5.5 km.
Blue - As technically hard as we can make it, for experienced orienteers. Approx. distance 5.5 to 6.5 km,.
Score - No set distance, but a 60 minute time limit. Find as many of the 21 controls as possible in one hour. Good for adult beginners, those progressing from orange to green, and those that want to be back in a set time.

Entry Details
Pre-entry only by midnight on the day before the event.. This will be via http://www.racesignup.co.uk.

Junior/Student (member/non-member) £4/£6
Group (member/non-member): £10/£15
Basic non-SIAC dibber (electronic timing device) available for hire free of charge. SIAC dibbers available for hire for £1.50.
Entries close the day before the event.
Registration and Start times
Enquiries opens at 10.30 to collect hire dibbers and yellow course maps that will be made available in advance. There will be experienced orienteers on hand to help newcomers.
The start is a 1.3km walk from the layby. Follow red and white tapes from the western end of the layby.
There are two finishes. The yellow and orange courses finish near the start with a 1.3km walk back to download and parking. The green and blue courses finish close to the main parking area in the layby. The score course will have the option to use either finish. Both finishes are marked on the score course map. Please remember to download before leaving.
