Summer Series

Local level event

Explanation of event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

Report

22 orienteers enjoyed the fine weather at Penenden Heath, with some taking the route options further round to Sandling and Ringlestone. Most runners went through the sheep field and the woods to add some variety to the usual assorted alleyways and tarmacked footpaths for a Street O.

Mervyn and Jessica introduced a couple of newcomers to our sport, and they had good success, and seemed very keen to get to the next couple of Saxons events.

We adjourned to The Bull afterwards, and those that made it that far, were rewarded with the edible prizes. Rosie made sure we got our food.

Thanks to Simon for setting up the SI Timing, and Mark for helping with Start and Finish. Thanks also to the control collectors: Colin and Graham (from HAVOC), Neil (DFOK), Mark, Simon, and Brendon.
