Inaugural GardenO event sees Saxon’s No.1 Lady unseated in SHOCK defeat!

Wed 15 Apr 2020

Making the most of the Lockdown, the Howe family mapped their garden using Open Orienteering Mapper app before running their first GardenO Sprint event.

A surprise victory for Austin, beating Alison by 31 seconds, to take the winner's medal.

Missing orienteering? Why not spend a few hours getting to grips with Open Orienteering Mapper, a free application that allows you to create your own O Maps. Download your map into Purple Pen and create your very own Orienteering event!

This is exactly what the Howe family did this week.

They held their first GardenO event on Tuesday 14th April. Two courses were on offer. A white course for Holly, and a Sprint Challenge for Austin and Alison.

"Route finding was tricky with the constant changes of direction" said Austin.

Alison lost valuable seconds trying to locate a tree stump in thick woodland and could not make up the deficit, finishing in 4m35s. Austin was jubilant with the win (4m04s), and took the £5 side bet. Holly won her course in 2m48s.
