The standard format is a Thursday night score event with a mass start at 7.30pm, held weekly. There is a mix of forest and street events. Typically there is an opportunity for apres-o at a nearby hostelry, for the presentation of the results and (novelty) prizegiving. For those taking part individually, KNC points are awarded, and these points count for the KNC League. Newcomers are welcome! taking part as a pair or group if you wish. Minimum equipment is a torch (& back up light), a watch and SI dibber (dibbers can be borrowed on the night).

Please note: Safety considerations and British Orienteering insurance limitations mean that Juniors must be 16+ to compete individually in the Street events.

Please check the Saxons website a few days before the event in case of late amendments eg due to poor weather.

KNC League: Rules in the event of a tie

Urban KNC Events for the 2023/4 Season

In order to simplify the organisers effort at Urban events we are using MapRun instead of traditional SI controls. In order to avoid any timing penalty issues that may arise due to MapRun not registering your finish, and for competitor safety reasons, we will supplement MapRun with SI at the Start and Finish only. The Nick Hope Cup

This is presented to the person who attends the greatest number of KNC events in the season.

It reflects the approach that former Saxons OC Chairman Nick Hope had: the determination to compete at KNC events.

If this is someone who isn’t normally amongst the leaders, it is particularly appropriate - showing a ‘commitment through adversity’.

If there is a tie, the recipient is determined in the following way:-
A category prizewinner (eg Women winner, Vet Man winner) is discounted.
If there is still a tie, it is presented to the person with the lowest placing in the League.
