Junior Orienteering Festival
update of the day
We had over 50 competitors at Lorenden School on 28th May for this year’s competition. The weather was perfect; dry and not too hot so expectations were high of a good day with great results. The start was inside the school grounds so once the competitors had gone through the gate in the fence they were out of sight of those waiting their turn to run, waiting for their go in the maze or waiting their turn in the cakes stall queue. Eventually all the runners appeared back through the other gate and sped between the tapes to the finish. Some were back very quickly indeed. On the Orange and Light Green courses nobody made any mistakes which must show how good you are all getting.
Well done to the following Saxons who won in their group and went home with a gold medal;- Luke Evans, Austin Howe, Ellie Taylor, Toby Prior, Adam Evans, Ffion Bricknell, Henry Taylor, Ishani Milward-Bose, Elsa Burdett, Michael Cameron, James Ford and Eglantine Betts. Our youngest orienteers;- William Prior, Holly Howe, and Hannah Sibley did so well that they came to the podium for a very special round of applause.
Our next KOL is on 18th June at Haysden Country Park. It’s the last one of the series so make sure that you come along and have a good run and see if you or your school are cup winners this year.
