Saxons Crowned "The Best Small Club in the South" at Compass Sport Cup Finals

An epic Saxons team achieved a creditable 6th place in the Compass Sport Cop Trophy Finals at Holcombe Moor, beating off all other Southern club challengers in the process.

26 brave souls took part in this year's Compass Sport Cup Final at Holcombe Moor. Most availed themselves of the Club minibus and team meal in Bolton the night before the race. Well done to everyone for taking part in the dinner time 'Fun Facts' quiz.

Race day forecasts suggested heavy rain and strong winds (Storm Ashley); we were not disappointed! Those on the longer courses took in the open moorland, which was very rough going and energy sapping. Once completed, the wooded valley proved to be much more 'busy' map-wise, with a preponderance of mud, which kept everyone slipping and sliding toward the finish.

Shortly after everyone had finished the clouds broke and the sun showed itself in time for a team photo.

The tough conditions took its toll, with two of the team picking up injuries requiring medical assistance and transport from the event area. Our best wishes go to them in the hope of a speedy recovery.
