Night Cup – Round 20 – Hargate Forest, Tunbridge Wells

Directions: Parking, assembly, and registration at
bottom of Broadwater Down, just off A26, at entrance to Hargate Forest
(TQ 571376).
Public
transport: Tunbridge Wells mainline train station approx 2.5 km from the
start/finish.
Courses: 60
minute score suitable for all abilities - 2 maps - 21 controls total. Find as
many controls as you can on first map, punch the compulsory transition control
then repeat with second map. Optimum route approx 6 km.
Map and
Terrain: Map 1:7,500 drawn February 2008 by GG maps. Printed on A4
waterproof paper, double sided. Mixed forest with good path network.

welcome but please email or call the organiser if you intend coming
so we know how many maps to print. If you are new to Night
Orienteering and would like someone to help you get started please email the
organiser or make yourself known on the night in good time.
Registration: 19:00 to
19:15 (please don’t be late)
Start: Mass
start at 19:30 sharp. Start and finish are approx 200m walk from registration/assembly.
Equipment:
SPORT IDENT dibbers to hire if you don’t have one. Bring a compass,
whistle highly advised. Descriptions on the map only. Some sort of torch
essential and a small backup/reserve is also highly recommended.
Cost:
£1 to cover map printing.
Après-O: - The Nevill
Crest and Gun at Eridge Green (TQ 558357). Menu to select from before
the start. Plenty of parking in the pub car park.
Prizes:
A select few – of grandeur to reflect entry fee – at the pub
afterwards.
Results:
will be online at www.saxons-oc.org with a short report as soon after the event as possible.
