Braunton Burrows: a tricky area in difficult conditions
Bristol OK, with the support of other SWOA clubs.....
Bristol OK, with the support of other SWOA clubs, hosted the British Championships Long distance races. Braunton Burrows, on the North Devon coast, is predominantly a complex of sand dunes, and the map had plenty of contour details! It was important to keep close track of your position on the map, as re-location was not easy.
The following day there was a National Middle distance race, also on the Burrows but on a slightly different part.
For both events there was wind and rain for much of the time, so wearing a cagoule was essential for many.
Mastering both the terrain and the conditions were Alison Howe W45L (3rd Long & 3rd Middle), Sarah Howes W60L (5th Long & 8th Middle) and Peter Martin M70L (2nd Middle), all achieving Championship race standard.
A memorable weekend, well Planned and Organised!
